Visit the beautiful Gokyo Lakes and make an exciting crossing of the Cho La Pass and ascent of Kala Pattar for stunning view of the Mt. Everest.
Gokyo with the Everest Base Camp trek is reasonably one of the world’s best treks as it is extremely outstanding as well as offering best views of the world’s tallest mountain. It’s popularity does mean that the Everest Trail is very busy during high trekking season.
Climbing to Gokyo Ri and crossing Cho La is much more remote and rewarding trek than the normal Everest trek. On the regular base camp trek you will climb top of Kala Pattar 5,545m which gives close views of Everest but firstly you will also climb Gokyo Ri, another peak which offers magnificent mountain panoramas of Khumbu himal including, Everest itself, the Cho Oyu which is the world’s sixth highest peak.
After magnificent flight to Lukla your trek will take you up the Dudh Kosi river valley and on up to Namche Bazaar. You will have time to acclimatize here with the chance to explore up the Thame valley then heading up the valley to Gokyo. You will stay at the village of Gokyo set near the middle lake, at 4,750m. From here you can make the steep climb of the easily walk able peak called Gokyo Ri, from which a perfect panorama of summits is visible, towering above the great glaciers below.
Then, you cross the Cho La, an impressive high pass at 5,418m, and descend to Lobuche. From Kalar Patar you look cross and you will feel dwarfed and humbled by the steep scale of the highest mountain in the world. You will also be able to visit Everest Base Camp, where you will be walking in the footsteps of so many famous Everest summiteers. Then return to Lukla via Thyangboche another place visited by so many Everest expeditions and important because here they ask for the blessing of the high Lama for their deeds.
On the more popular trekking routes in Nepal, enterprising villagers have built tea houses which now offer decent accommodation and tasty food. We endeavor to use good tea houses available at each overnight stop on our itinerary. Staying in these locally owned tea houses ensures that your trip will directly benefit the local community and will offer you the chance to interact with the Nepalese people, gaining an insight into their lives.
