Annapurna Circuit Trek

Hey everyone. I will be arriving in Kathmandu on May 4 and plan on heading to Besisahar on May 7 to start the Annapurna Circuit trek. Looking to see if there is anyone out there that would like to take this on together. I’m thinking about 14-16 days, but am certainly open to extending a couple days if you’re interested in doing some day hikes on the side.

  1. Hi Ben,

I am Mariz. I will arrive the same date than you in Kathmandu. I planned to do the whole annapurna circuit + the ABC in one shot. This should take me around 30 days at a moderate pace.
I was planning on doing this alone, but if you want to meet on the way or start together or just meet in Kathmandu or whatever, let me know.

I also planned to start the trek at Begnas Tal.

    Cheers!

    • Hey Mariz!

So I spoke with Connor, who I believe you already talked with, and it sounds like we’ll be heading out of Kathmandu to start the trek on May 7. In my opinion, starting the trek on the west side in Begnas Tal is going to result in a rapid increase in elevation. I believe by the fourth day or so you’d already be going over the Thorong La pass at elevation 18,000 feet (5,400 metres). Because I’m a low-lying homo sapien, that rapid ascent will probably put me out for at least a day. I am also planing on doing the hike in about 16 days so that I can have some time at the end to hangout in Pokhara. But like you said we could at least start the trek together and see where we end up.

We should definitely meet up in Kathmandu to talk, though. I’m staying at the Alobar 1000 hostel in Thamel.

      Best regards,
      Ben

  2. Hey Ben,
I arrive on May 8, and I am looking to start ASAP, given a day or two for permits. Let me know if your dates are flexible.

    • Hey Shenoy,

Unfortunately I am on a bit of a time restraint because I have to leave Nepal to meet with a friend in Thailand by the 28th, so I’m trying to get out to the circuit as soon as possible. Keep me updated on though if you think you can bump your departure up to the 8th.

      Cheers!

  3. Hey Ben,
It would be almost impossible for me to that, tickets already booked and I’ll need a day atleast to put my permits in place. Also, I am planning to do a bunch of side treks, and I most definitely plan to be on the circuit till 31 May atleast. Let’s see if we end up at Bhulbhule together, let me know which Teahouse you are planning to stay at.

    Cheers!

    Shenoy

  4. Hey Ben,

I’m hoping to do the Annapurna Circuit in May and there’s a reasonable chance I may be in Kathmandu in time to join you. Could you use any more company? I’m also looking at staying at the same hostel, so we may run into each other either way.

    -Tina
