Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trek

Hey all! I’m a 35-year-old male from Colorado, USA, and I’ll be arriving in Kathmandu on the night of December 9th, and leaving on January 1st. Looking to do a ~14 day hike (most likely in the Everest Region, but I’m open to other options!). The ideal starting date out of Kathmandu for me would be Dec 11th or 12th. I’m looking for hiking and logistics partners, and am thinking of going the independent route, but I’d be open to hiring a guide/porter too. I’m an experienced hiker and camper, and I’m a moderately fast hiker. I’ve been to Nepal once before, albeit 14 years ago. Let me know if you’d like to try to figure out a plan! -Rob

  1. Hey Rob, I’m arriving in Kathmandu on 7 Dec and flying out of the country Dec 27. I’m thinking of going to Lukla on 11 Dec (don’t know how long it takes to get the TIMS permit) and I’d love to do the Gokyo Lakes as well as base camp but am a bit unsure what the passes are like in Dec and also want to leave a bit of time to fly back to Kathmandu (if i did only base camp i’d be leaving Lukla for Kathmandu Dec 23). Anyway I’ll definitely be doing at least base camp and i’ll be around :D.

  2. Hey Daniel! Thanks for reaching out. It looks like we might have a few people all starting around the same time (Lauren and Stacey as well), which should provide a bit of flexibility for everyone. I’m hesitant to commit to any long term plans without having met anyone first, but I’m totally interested in starting off (and tackling logistics) together! I’ll be arriving on the evening of the 9th, and staying in KTM for two nights (ready to leave on the 11th). Let’s keep in touch!
