April 2018 Manaslu Circuit With Tsum Valley Side Trip – 22 days

The Manaslu Circuit/Tsum Valley extension requires a minimum two hikers. I am looking for a partner – or two – interested in doing the Manaslu Circuit along with the one-week side trip up the Tsum Valley. We would share the guide and could each hire a porter.

Here is a list of costs as provided by various agencies –

$200 jeep transport to Soti Khola or $10 per person on bus
$70. each for Manaslu 7-day permits
$35. each 7 day Tsum Valley permits
$20. each Annapurna Con permits
$20 each Manalsu C A permits
$660 guide includes his food, shelter, and insurance over 22 days
$440 porter includes his food, shelter and insurance over 22 days
$800.-1000. three meals a day and a teahouse/lodge About $40 a day X 22
$50. return transport to Kathmandu from Jaggat for all 3 (including guide and porter)

I have yet to decide on a trekking agency to handle all the details – i.e. the transport from and back to Kathmandu, the permits, the lodging and food. Agency prices run from an impossibly low $900. to the high end $3000.+ prices quoted by U;K. or U.S. based agencies.

I am somewhat flexible – i.e. a week either way – about the start date. I could start as early as March 25 or as late as April 5. Most itineraries I have looked at schedule about 22 days. I am fine with a couple of extra acclimatization days before Larkpa La (5100 m) to give our bodies extra time to acclimatize – and to do some neat side trips to MBC and such.

I am an experienced hiker, having done the Annapurna Circuit and the Everest Three Passes treks in years past. In 2014 I did a two-week walk down Bolivia’s Cordillera Blanca with most campsites in the 4500 meter range.

If an April spent walking around the world’s eighth highest mountain with a side trip up one of Tibetan Buddhism’s hidden valleys sounds like something you could get into, let me know!
