EBC into The Great Himalayan Trail

So I trekked the Annapurna Circuit 2 and a half years ago, it was my first trekking experience and I loved it. I am now planning to go back to Nepal in early October for more adventure.

I have a friend whom I met on the AC who is a Nepali porter/guide, he is from the Solukhumbu region which is not too far from Everest. My plans are still in their early stages and I am open to suggestions but I would certainly like to do EHC (Everest High Camp) but I also recently heard of the GHT (Great Himalayan Trail) which goes from Bhutan to Pakistan, I am very interested in trekking the Nepal section of this great walk where altitudes of well over 6000m are reached. I would like to do this without porter or guide if it is possible or do as much as I can over the course of three months before I have to do a border run to top up my visa. Also whilst on this trip I am also plan on doing some canyoning and mountain biking as this is also supposed to be spectacular in Nepal.

Please get in touch if you would like to involve yourself in my plans and feel you have any suggestions to improve or add to it.

Happy Trekking!

  1. hi, i also would like to trek (without porter if possible..) in some remote area and would totally love to get as high as 6000m. i posted this a few days ago
let me know what do you think! i cannot really make the all GHT (it’s not in my interest and i need to make photos and go back to civilization sometimes, so 25-30 days are the maximum i can do). all i ask is a remote, high and “cheap” adventure

  2. Hey Olly I’m looking for partners to do some of the more challenging sections of GHT in early October. I won’t be able to do the entire trail but I was looking at spending a month plus on it. Also looking to get well above tree line and hopefully catch some up close views of Himalayan peaks. Let me know if you end up picking the GHT and maybe we could team up.
