Everest Base Camp

I am a professor from the USA and an experienced trekker. I am a solo trekker but would like to have like minded company for the EBC trek. I plan to leave for Lukla on the 25th of February but can be flexible. Economics are not an issue but inexpensive would be good. I plan the standard route to EBC staying in Teahouses along the way.

  1. Hi Alex, are you going to use a guide &or porter or going to do it independently. I also have an inexpensive plan for EBC & Kalapathar and looking for company. I plan to carry my own bag and rent gear from KTM.

    • Hi Puneet,
It is good to hear from you. I will arrive in Kathmandu on February 21 and intend to catch a light to Lukla on the 24th of February. Then set out for EBC. It would be great to have someone to trek with. Best regards, Alex

  2. Hi, I am planning to fligh to Phaplu on Feb 22. so I want to hike to Ama Dablam Basecamp and then to EBC. I will need around 3 days to walk to Lukla coming from Phaplu. So we could eventually meet there somewhere to hike together?
I am a teacher from Austria, am 58 years old and am volunteering in the south of Kathmandu for 5 month. I think to hire a porter, but not a guide, and stay in teahouses.

  3. So Alex are you taking a guide / porter or doing it on your own ?

    • Hi Puneet,
At this point, I have planned to hire a guide cum porter either in Kathmandu, Lukla or Namche. I have read that it is a nice thing to give someone a job for a couple of weeks. I am open to any change in plans however.
      Best regards, Alex

  4. Hi Alex,
Looks like I will be in Kathmandu on 26th and start from Lukla on 27th. Not sure if this will be too late for you ?

Hi Gabriele, If you are going to be in Lukla around 27th then we can start for EBC also.
    Look forward to your responses.
    Thanks.

  5. Hi Puneet, today I have booked my flight to Paphlu for the 22 of February. I hired a porter aus well, not a guide. It takes around 6 or 7 days to Namche, I won´t pass Lukhla witch is a bit above my trail. so we could also probably meet somewhere in Namche if noone of us (included Alex) is too fast. Let´s see. Alex wrote me already where he probably wants to stay for two nights in Namche, he wants to stay in Khumbu Lodge or in Hotel Namche. I will go there and ask for you and Alex in case I won´t be late. Ok? Would be nice meeting you. Take care, Gabi
