Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trek

Hello trekking partners!

I’m flying to Kathmandu soon on the 31st of January, and I’d like to start looking for trekking partners. Though I’m not nessisarliy set on Everest as the destination, I will most likely be looking at doing the “old school” route to Gokyo Lakes and possibly throwing in a pass or two and maybe even EBC. For sure though if I choose this region, I will be starting at Jiri, and finishing in either Jiri, or Tumlingtar.

I expect to take a month or so to complete this trek. I tend to give myself leisurely start times, but once I get going I move at a resonable pace. I don’t have a departure date yet so my start/end dates are faily flexible.

A quick bit about me: This will be my second time trekking in Nepal, and I defintiely want to savour it! I am an avid hiker, but in order to maximize enjoyment I’m defintiely not trying for any new records or to rush through it! I enjoy photographing the landscape and while I very much enjoy good conversation, I also like to listen to music sometimes or read a book. If you’re looking to have a partner, but still want the option of an immersive nature experience, message me!

Also, I’m looking at Everest because of the option to do it without a guide, however, I think Manaslu and Dolpo both look incredible! If you’re interested in that, maybe we can work something out. I should also mention that I want to keep as low a budget as possible. It would cool if we could meet up in Kathmandu to sort out permits / busses / stock up on snickers etc….

Happy trekking,

Mackenzie
