Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trek

Hey all.

So basically I will keep this short and sweet. I did the full Annapurna circuit and LOVED it. So now its time for Everest. I dont want to fly in so know I need to get the bus from Kathmandu to Jiri/somewhere else close and start walking. I dont want a guide and definitely no porter as I did the whole circuit with neither.

Im thinking to head off around 1st December so if any one is keen let me know.

Im a 25 year old female from England and I’ve been travelling for 2 years now. Ive really fallen in Love with Nepal so using any excuse to stay, and I think trekking is as good a reason as any!

Hope to hear some response.

Joanne 🙂

  1. Hi Joanne,

I’m planning to do this trek (there is also an option to go from Salleri which should be about 2-3 days from Namche). I would like to leave about 29th/30 but on the 1st should be fine too. I would like to be back for XMas in Kathmandu but I guess it all depends how it all goes up there.

please let me know if you want to meet up and talk. I’m staying in Thamel

    • Hey, I just messaged you on private mail, Ive just seen your message.

  2. Just back from gokyo-ebc-islandpeak.

    I recommend:
-bring a jar of honey, snacks, and down layers.
    – renjo la instead of gokyo ri. Scramble up north peak at pass if you are keen.
    – 5 lakes at gokyo
    – cho la
    – kala pattar sunset
    – lobuche to dingboche
    – chhukkung and chukkung ri
    – tengboche
    – kongma la might require a guide
    – toktok down hike the west side the river and homestsy senca (?)
(might need a guide from inquiry at toctoc or phakding shops if you are not a good route finder)
    – lukla for an extra day to the school AM and football field 300-4pm… 🙂

  3. Hey travelers,

I’ll be heading to Nepal on the 27th Dec and am thinking of taking on the Everest Base Camp Trek. Will be traveling alone and would be great to have some company for the road ahead.

Let me know if you’re interested.
