Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trek

Hello everybody!

I’m Jefferson from Brazil ,26 years old and
I’m looking for partnership to do the Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trekking at late May/early June 2016.
Planning to do the trekking totally independent so a trekking partner would be
great because we can look for each other in order to avoid problems with the altitude.

My route starts at Kathmandu and i will be there for 3,4 days ,buying all the gear I need.At first,I think i will reach Lukla by plane although my will would be get there by jeep.My choice will be always the cheapest but I’m considering that June is the pre-monsoon period and the soon we get to the EBC the better!

I don’t want a guide/porter because I personally think that the experience would be deeper and satisfactory. However I’ll probably hire a guide for Cho La Pass due to my lack of experience in ice.

My budget is US$ 1200(enough for an agency trip, for example) but I really want to save my money.I’d like to help the porters/guides but my country is dealing with a severe crisis and I don’t know about how much stable the nation will be when i get back.

My pace is steady but I can do it slower or faster …It’s not an issue for me and I don’t want to rush the trek. It’s the journey of a lifetime and there’s no need to do it quickly.

That’s it …if you want to do the trekk at this period just let me know and we can talk about it.

  1. Hi Jefferson,
I saw you on another trip and decided to reach out to you too. I plan on doing the 3 passes trek about the same time. I’ll be in Nepal from 25th to July 2nd. More than enough time to get the trek done. I have some experience trekking. I too am a little cautious when it comes to crossing the high passes with glaciers. Teaming up would be a logical thing to do. Check out the 3 pass trek and tell me if that is something you’d like to do. I’ve been researching and it should take from 20-25 days. https://besthike.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/everest-3-passes-map.gif?w=450&h=518 Good travels! Tom

  2. Hi Tom !
Sorry for not replying earlier but i’m travelling trought Thailand right now.I would like to go to this 3 passes trek.We can chat about it but my first thought was to do the ebc and gokyo trek only.I know that 3 passes will take more time .So will you be in KTM in 25th May?I’ll probably be there to buy all the gear I need so we can met over there…what do you think ?

    • I will be there on the 25th. We can meet up then. I tried to go to Nepal last year, but I cancelled because of the earthquakes. So glad I can do it this year (cross my fingers). As far as the guide for the passes, if we can get more people in our group we can share the cost of the guide and lower the overall price. We can try a find people with similar plans in Kathmandu. Enjoy Thailand, I was there 5 years ago. Southeast Asia is excellent.
