Everest Base Camp and possible Island Peak

Hey Everyone,

I am Anna from Australia and will be traveling to Nepal from 17th March to 22nd April.

I am looking to trek EBC early April, dates are flexible, and possibly climb Island Peak, if I manage to find a partner to do it with. I am fairly flexible with my dates and budget, just want to have a good time and make the most of my time in Nepal.

If anyone is interested in teaming up with me, let me know and we can chat more.

Cheers

Anna

  1. Hey Anna!

I am also looking for someone to hike to EBC with and I arrive into Kathmandu on March 19th. Im pretty flexible and open to different hiking options, like whether or not to hire a porter and all of that. Right now Im just planning on getting into Kathmandu, stayinf at a backpackers there its called Alo Backpackers? Not sure if thats exactly how its spelled, and then just seeing what people recommend.

Let me know if youd be interested in meeting up!

    • Hi Lyndsey,

Its nice to hear from you 🙂
Ues we can definately meet up and do the EBC hike together. How long are you staying in Nepal?

      Cheers,
      Anna

  2. Hi Anna, How are you doing?

I am Rico and like you we will do the Everest Base Camp trek, but a little bit later.

At the same time we would to ask you some questions and it would be great if you could answer them before your trek to the EBC.

I wish you all the best for your trip to Nepal,
    Rico

    Questions:
    1. Is it possible to hire a porter in Lukla?
    2. How high is the fee for porter for a day?
    3. Does this fee also include the accommodation, food and insurance of the porter?
    4. How many kilograms can a porter carry (max. 15 or 20 or xx)?
    5. How much are meals and water (boiled or bottled) close to the Everest base camp?
    6. Do you need crampon or climbing iron on the trek?
    7. How can you book accommodation along the trek before the trek or while being on the trek?

  3. Hi Anna,

I am English but I live in australia.

I am also going solo to Nepal and I actually have a guide who is happy for me and others to share his services.
He can get us all of the passes to climb and bational park permits. We are planning to go up towards gokyo lakes and then across the cho la pass towards base camp.
Would you like to come along? He said we are able to share costs and he will carry 8kg for us so split 4kg each of we are tired or he can swap who he helps and when.
    He offers airport pick up.
I haven’t chosen a date yet but maybe April time?

I am 26 years old and love fun and adventure. Let me know if this is something you might be interested in.

  5. Hi Anna

We are both travelling to EBC and Gokyo Lake from the 6th of April to the 21st – we fly home on the 22nd. Are you are still looking for company? Also are you thinking about hiring a guide? We were going to go solo, but as this is our first hike at altitude we are now considering getting a guide. We are keen to do both EBC and Gokyo Lakes – Having researched the trip we have been advised the following itinerary:

1)Kathmandu to Lukla by flight then trek to Benkar (2800m)

    2) Benkar to Namche (3450m)

    3)Namche – Rest / Acclimatisation day

    4)Namche – Debouche (3700m)

    5) Debouche – Pangboche (3930m)

    6) Pangboche – Pheriche (4220)

    7) Pheriche – Dhugla (4600m)

    8) Dhugla – Lobuje (4950 m)

    9) Lobuje – Kala Patter(5545m) – Gorak Shep(5140m)

    10) Gorak Shep- EBC (5360m) – Lobuje

11 Lobuje – Dingboche (High level route turning left at Dhugla)

    12) Dingboche – Phortse

    13) Phortse – Gokyo (Eastern side of The Gokyo Valley)

    14) Gokyo – Namche Bazaar

    15) Namche Bazaar – Lukla

    16) Fly Lukla to Kathmandu

If you’re keen it would be good to talk more.

    Thanks,

    Natalie
