Everest Base Camp OR Annapurna Circuit (Besisahar to Jomsom)

Hi,

Flying to Nepal on the 27th Dec, and will be there for a month. This will be my first time in the country.

Looking for like-minded trekkers to do either Everest Base Camp trek (with the extension of taking in Gokyo Valley via Cho La Pass) OR Annapurna Circuit from Besisahar to Jomsom (with the extension of Tilicho lake).

Thinking of doing it independently, but is open to the option of hiring guides.

I hv backpacked to a number of countries and hv experienced a number of day to multi-day hikes here and there, although this will be my first time doing it in winter. No problems with mingling with other people since I have done it many a times throughout my journey.

Need at least a day to shop for supplies and apply for permits in Kathmandu (or Pokhara if doing the AC).

After the trek, will be spending some time in the Kathmandu valley as well as Pokhara and perhaps a trip to Lumbini.

Contact me if u r interested!

Cheers!

  2. we have some of the same ideas- arriving KMD on late night 27th December. I need a few days get everything together; Custom Down sleeping Bag, (its going to be cold) food, ticket to Lukla & other essential gear thats cheaper to buy in KMD.

The full month of January is my goal- slow, slow extended trek! Lukla, B/C 100% sure. Gokyo Lakes and other locations- not sure as of yet. weather might be too cold and supplies to thin. Will decide in KMD when I have more information.

  3. Hello Rich,
We glad to know about your trip to Nepal in Everest region. regarding your query of course everything is cheaper in kathmandu than in Everest . We are here in Nepal called Nepal Himalayas Trekking is also called budget trekking agency, no worry about any thing let’s say some worm clothes like down jacket, sleeping bag and round trip flight ticket in lukla. My friend for ticket in lukla needed to book some days earlier because some time difficult to book and other thing you will get easily . If you need down jacket and sleeping bag you will get in hire from trekking soap less than $ 1 per day with nice quality . OK my friend if you need all package for 16 days trekking in Everest just we charge you $ 960 or if would you like to just hire of guide for 16 days just $290. No worry my friend any information you can query with me and you can visit my side http://www.nepalhimalayastrekking.com. The cost of lukla ticket needed to pay $ 160 per person one way
    thanks

  4. Hi RichMac,

Thanks for the reply. The weather in the everest region seems unpredictable lately, with flights being delayed and temperature getting cold and bad visibilities.

Having not done any winter trekking before, I’m seriously considering switching to Annapurna circuit since you won’t have that many days in high altitude.

And this being my first visit to Nepal, would like to spend time doing some sightseeing also, and not just my whole month to trekking.

Good luck planning, and I might just bump into you in Kathmandu.

    Cheers,
    Rafael.

  5. Hey. my ticket is confirmed. Im arriving on the 27th- Im going to find Shona’s Alpine Rental in Thamel and stay near there too. I need some custom gear made. E.G., Down Sleeping Bag & base layer. Then when the window opens up – will be leaving KMD.
Which hotel are you staying at?

  6. PS. the AP circuit takes about 20 to 22 days. You need a porter I believe. Whats your daily budget for Lukla to B/C route?

  7. Hey,

Will be arriving 27th close to midnight.
I haven’t book a hotel yet, but should be somewhere cheap in Thamel.

Not doing the full AP circuit, I’m considering from Besisahar and ending at Jomsom, with a possible extension to Tilicho lake (so around 14-16 inc transport back to Pokhara).

If I’m doing AC, will start from Pokhara and rent my equipment there (sleeping bags and maybe a jacket) since after the trek, will be considering heading down Tansen, Lumbini, Chitwan, Daman and finally the Kathmandu valley if time allows.

Will be hoping to do it independently (carrying my own stuff) if I can get companions to go with. Budget should be ard 20usd.

  8. I arrive KMD at 10:40 from Delhi- Jet Airways.

Dont worry, there is a hotel booking agency right after customs with the drivers waiting to get you to the hotel. If your interested…….we can get to the hotel and discuss a rational plan, based on the weather & logistical support.

Additionally, my gear is lite. I plan to pack only 15 kilos. half of that is food/water. most of the stuff will be on my body as I trek.

    how do we connect ?
