Everest Base Camp Trek

Hello!

I’m flying to Kathmandu on the 29th of October – I want to explore the city for a week or so (this will be my first time in Nepal) and then would like to trek to base camp!

I’ve decided that I’d like to walk from Jiri, I’ve done a fair bit of trekking however never at Nepalese altitudes, so feel the best way to acclimatise will be to walk up towards Lukla instead of flying (I’ll most likely fly back though). I am open to going to the lakes if others want to aswell.

Leaving date is flexible depending on others plans

If any ones interested in joining give me a message, would love some company. If your in Kathmandu at the end of Oct/ start of November i’d be happy to meet up and discuss in person. Keen to do it independently as well without poters/sherpa but rather map reading!

Cheers, Mark

  1. Hi Mark,
I’ll be arriving in Kathmandu on Nov 3rd, planning to do the EBC starting around the 6th of Nov.

It will be my first time in Nepal, but I’m reasonably fit and did quite some trekking in many different placed from Canada to New Zealand.

My idea would also be to do it independently, taking time to acclimatise, and rather spending money for accomodation and food on the spot than giving it to a tour agency.

I have 4-5 weeks, so that should be plenty to start from Jiri.

Did your travel plans change in the meantime?

  2. Hi Rudiger,

I’ve organised to set off on the 6th/7th with another chap (Jay) who I met through this website. He’s arriving to Kathmandu on the 3rd as well and we were going to meet up on the 4th in kathmandu for some food. If your around on the 4th you could join us so we can go through our plans? We could walk as a 3 if you were interested?

    Mark
