Everest Base Camp

Greets all! I am doing a 12 day EBC trek starting December 8 to December 19. Actually I’m landing in Kathmandu on Dec 7 to give me an extra day in the city. I’ve hiked 40km in a day before so I’m in ok shape. This will be the first time that I’ll be over 5000m (4300m is my highest). I’ll be doing a moderate pace on the way up but am going down in 3 days so it could be a little faster. I am prepared for 8 hour days the last 3 days so it doesnt have to be too fast. I’ll be hauling a deuter 47 but no tent so I’ll be using the tea houses or guest houses. If anyone wants to meet up, let me know!

Preliminary Itinerary:
Day 1 (Dec 8): chill in Kathmandu
Day 2: fly to Lukla (8:30-9) and hike to first or second stop (Phakding or Monjo)
Day 3: hike to namche bazaar
Day 4: chill for the day, small hike up to the museum and then back to town
Day 5: hike to tengboche or close by
Day 6: hike to dingboche or close by
Day 7: hike to loubuche or close by
Day 8: hike to gorachep and EBC. stay in gorachep for the night.
Day 9: early morning hike to watch sunrise. then down to periche or close by
Day 10: hike back to the bazaar.
Day 11: hike to Lukla.
Day 12 (Dec 19): fly back to Kathmandu (7-7:30)

Final notes: I didnt bring trekking poles with me over the pond so I’ll probably be buying some in Kathmandu on Dec 8. Can anyone recommend a place? Thanks!

  1. Hi Jamie.
I am planning to trek EBC this december.
I am still looking for partner.
    Perhaps we can trek together.
This is my first 5000m high hike, so i may be slow during uphill to acclamtize.
But if everything good. I should have no problem to trek fast.

Do contact me if you interested.

  2. Hi folks,
I’ll be arriving to Kathmandu on the 4th and was thinking of heading up into the everest region. I have a lot more time (I have to be back in Delhi on the 10th of January) but we could potentially trek for some time together.

Send me a message if you think it could work out.
    Dustin
