I am going to be doing Island Peak sometime in Feb/March and looking to see if anyone else is interested in it also.
I will be getting the bus from Kathmandu to Jiri and then trekking in from Jiri to Lukla (5-7 days) and into the Sagarmatha National Park, onwards and upwards to Chukung and then climb Island Peak. I will then trek to Lukla and then out to Tumlingtar (5-7 days).
I want to trek in and out rather than fly because it will save us ~$320. I did this route earlier in 2015 and know it’s a nice part of Nepal, very different to the final stages of the trek.
I will be looking into getting a guide for actual ascent of Island Peak, with the guide from either Chukung or Namche (if prefer Chukung as it will keep the cost down, and there is no need for a guide before Chukung).
Dates are flexible, I’ll be arriving in Nepal in Jan, and leaving at the end of March/early April. I’ve not decided on weather I’ll want to use a porter for the summit ascent, but we can talk about it. Group numbers are flexible, within reason.Reply
