Nepal (Either Everest Basecamp or Annapurna Circuit)

I would like to hike either the Everest Basecamp or Annapurna Circuit independently. But to be safe I would like to find a l Ike minded partner to hike with me. I plan to hike from teat house to tea house without the use of a guide or pre booking any accomidations…. See how far we can get in a day without having to rush. I would like to plan this hike for the middle of March and to end at the start of April. I am not a fan of guided tours and therefore would like to avoid this option by finding a respectful, mature hiking partner.

I have yet to start planning the trip in detail therefore I am flexible between either the Everest Basecamp or Annapurna Circuit. I have put Kathmandu as the start and finish as it would be ideal to meet up in the city for a day or two to get to know each other prior to setting off… But this again is flexible.

  1. I am independent traveler too but plan on going in April. Do you have any flexibility on your start date?

  2. I can go into the first week of April. But I’m currently planning to meet friends in Indonesia mid April.

    • Ok, timing prob won’t quite work. Good luck in your travels.

  3. Hi Kimberly,

I am a 30 year old female from England. I am an independent traveller too and not keen on guided tours.

I am looking at arranging a trip for around that time too, I have nothing firmly booked yet, therefore quite flexible.

I am happy to do either of the trips as both of them I would like to do at some pout, however, my preference would lie with Anapurna.

For the last two years I have been hiking in the Alps but now really keen to venture out to Nepal.

Let me know if you are interested.

    Many thanks,
    Olga

    • Good evening Olga,

I would definitely be interested in doing the Anapurna if that is your preferred hike.

I have mainly been hiking in the Rockies in Canada. But love adding treks like this to my travel plans.

I will be doing some more research in the next few weeks so we can bounce a few ideas off of each other and see how things work out.

I am currently leaving most of March open for the hike and my only restrain right now is to meet some friend in Indonesia mid April. So I am very flexible for dates.

      Thanks,

      Kim

    • Hi Olga, would be keen to team up for the trek too!

      Let’s chat more.

  4. Hi Kim,

    Many thanks for your reply.

Likewise, I will be researching more about the requirements and kit to bring as well as maps and basic info. I have a Cicerone Guide Book that gives a lot of information already and know a few people who have done the trek, so it will be helpful to get their opinions too and advice.

I am fairly flexible with the dates in March, however it would be great if we could start earlier in March that I could be back as close to 27th March as possible as it’s the beginning of the school holidays for my kids and I would like to be back for them.

we can talk more about the plans and details.

    Thank you.

    Olga

  5. Hi Kimberly,

I am a 27 year old male from Germany and I am looking for trekkingpartners in the same area and period of time.

Since 2009 I have been hiking in the Alps, the Pyrenees, Corsica, Morocco and the scottish Highlands. Now, I really want to explore the Himalaya, but I’m not keen on guided tours neither. Hiking independently from teahouse to teahouse is exactly what I want to do too. First, I was thinking of going to the Solu Khumbu on the Everest-Basecamp-Trek, but the Annapurna-Circuit sounds fine for me!

Please let me know if you are open for another trekkingpartner.

    • Hi Niels, it is about a month since your post but if you are still looking for a partner for Everest Base Camp in March/April I’m very keen. Let me know if you are interested in teaming up. Andrew

  6. Hello Kimberly. I am interested, mature and flexible. Feb./16 was on top of Kili.,’14 on Rainier, Sierras Ca., Whitney ,and Berg lake, Robson NP. in between. Time for Nepal !
Reading up and talking to people I know that have been. I’m ready
mentally and physically. Let me know, Peppi.(Canada)

  7. Hi Kim 🙂

Im Matt from England and am also looking to do either Everest Base camp or the Annapurna circuit and in the march period.

Done many long distance trails around the world and now up for seeing what Nepal has to offer without the use of guides etc.

Ive just started getting my planning head on with the latest Lonely Planet trekking in Nepal book so am myself getting ideas together but am definitely keen on trekking with others rather than my own.

I will be attempting to film a small photography timelapse film during the journey between breaks and stops.

I would also be up for any day side trips etc…i dont like to miss all the optional extras 😉

    Thanks

    Matt

    • Hi Matt, Like the sound of your trip, it sounds like we are in the same boat. Would you be up for doing Everest Base Camp in March/April? Your time lapse sounds epic too. Speak soon. Andrew

  8. Hi Kim, Appreciate this post is a few weeks old now and you have already decided on Annapurna but I am in a similar boat to you but hoping to do Everest Base Camp instead. I’m flexible on dates though so let me know if you are interested. All the best, Andrew

    • Hi Andrew
Thanks for your reply. I think I’m going to do AC instead of EBC in march and have a post about that and hope to hear from people, but I am also interested in EBC later – I can get back to you when I know more.
      Rikke

  9. Hi Kim

I’m a 38 year old woman from Denmark. I’m an independent traveler too and am interested in both treks and am looking for likeminded people. I don’t have any fixed dates for my travels yet, but will be in Nepal from the beginning of march and would love to hike in march – april.

A couple of years ago I lived in Greenland and enjoyed hiking. I hope to trek without rushing too much and maybe do a sidetrek or two, but am flexible.

If you have any spot left and am interested I hope to hear from you.

    Thanks,
    Rikke

    • Hi Rikke, Like the sound of your trip, it sounds like we are in the same boat. Would you be up for doing Everest Base Camp in March/April? Speak soon. Andrew

    • Hi Rikke,
I am trekking to Everest Base Camp (hopefully with an extension to Gokyo Lakes) mid March.
      Are you still interested? 🙂

  13. Hello there. I will having a solo trek in Everest Base Camp as well on the same date. Hope I could fine some trekking buddy here. Thanks

  14. Dear Andrew, Eric, Ice, Kim, Matthew, Niels, Olga, Peppi, Rikke, Stacey:
We all are interested in EBC and Gokyo Ri during mid-March 2017. I am from New Delhi, India. I trek every month to Indian Himalayas since 2008. With the help from my classmates from Nepal, I have researched the zone carefully and drawn up a plan. My plan is to avoid flying to Lukla, and do the circuit by trekking from Jiri-Shivalaya for three reasons (a) avoid flight cancellation uncertainties and delays, (b) get acclimatize better by hiking, (c) cut down the cost of ktm-lua-ktm. My budget would be around $300 for the entire trek. Since only 70 days are left before we trek together, please indicate here, for better coordination. Please also indicate if you have some better plans with an even lower budget. Best regards, Sumantra

  15. Hi all. Let’s go! We’ll do Everest Base Camp on March and the trek commence in Jiri (classic route). I will go this coming March 1 probably.
