Nepal Jiri to Lukla / Namche Bazaar

Hi, I’d like to hike mid November from Jiri to Lukla / Namche Bazaar on a teahouse-trekking (and I am not going further to the EBC, but returning to Lukla and take a flight back to KTM) and I am looking for trekking partners.

I might join as well people who go further to the EBC and I return on my own to Lukla.

I am not a very fast, but continuous hiker (and I like to take photos)…

  1. Hi Gabrielle!
I’m looking to do Jiri-EBC and would love to have a partner for the first leg of the hike! I Arrive to KTM on the 8th Nov. Let me know what you think!

    • Hi Cathy,
thanks for your reply. I am coming back to KTM from a hike in Annapurna region on 10th Nov. and would be ready to go to Jiri on 11th or 12th.
Would this work for you? Would you maybe be ready to take a guide and maybe a porter?
      cheers

    • The 11th would definitely work for me. I’m doing the AC after EBC so I’d love to hear about your experience while we hike 🙂
I am not opposed to a guide, but prefer to carry all my own gear

  2. That is the big problem for traveler. Himalaya adventure is not a simple journey.most of people they would experience by themselves instead hiring a guide. in fact, we should also alert do not trek alone.trekking in Himalaya are exceptional beauty but also need to awareness about the critical areas before decide to adventure.who knows if she have expert guide-it could be alive today.so,we always alert for Individual trekkers to take a Guide when go to Nepal Himalaya or either must be list on registration company.

Helping is not the main issue now. she can only save by almighty.try to save others now

  3. Hi Gabrielle, I’m intending to fly into Kathmandu on the 8 Nov so would be ready to trek from Giri on 12th. Although I have been to Nepal many times including the Everest region I’ve never done the Giri trek. And everytime I’ve been to the Everest region I’ve always been working. I too like to go at a slow and steady pace and take lots of photographs! I would intend to continue over Renjo, stop a couple of days in Gokyo, then Cho La, EBC and return. Possibly fly out of Lukla. Cheers, Clive

    • Hi Clive, thanks for your message. This sounds good for the timing and pace. I understood that the trek is not difficult in terms of finding your way, but I was nevertheless thinking to book a guide-porter. Would you also consider around 8 days from Jiri to Lukla? cheers gabrielle

  4. Hi Gabrielle, I think you will probably get to Lukla in about five days, especially if you use a porter-guide. Do you have an agent or contact to hire the porter-guide? If not I can help you with contacts in Kathmandu. Would you plan to take the bus from Kathmandu to Jiri on the 13th November? Bye for now, Clive

  5. Hi again Gabrielle, I read a little more about the hike from Jiri up to Lukla and I think you’re right that seven or eight days is probably about right if one wants to take it easy and stop and look at things along the way. I have used a number of agents in Kathmandu; Himalayan Guides are a very big operator, they do mainly expeditions and may not be interested in just organising a porter guide. A friend of mine, Rankesh Gurung runs Passages Nepal, I’m going to get him to set me up with permit and National Park entry. I’m very happy to meet up on the morning of the 11th. Do you know where you will be staying? I usually stay in the Lhasa Guest House which is on the street called Jyatha. It’s about 200m past Shona’s Alpine Rentals, the well known trekking shop. It may be easier to just email me directly.. my email is: cliveofkathmandu at yahoo . com. I think it should be possible to organise everything and catch a bus to Jiri on the 13th.
    Cheers, Clive

  6. Hi Gabriele,
If you are still looking for a trekking buddy, I would be happy to join you! I have been in Nepal for 5 weeks now and already did some trekking around Poon Hill and Langtang/Helambu.
I would like to do a teahouse trek that is between 7-10 days anytime between mid nov to first week of dec.
    Cheers,
    Regina

    • Hi Regina, is you are starting the trek from 19th or 20th of November, i will be interested to join. i am looking for Trek partners to share the trip.
