Phu Valley trek – exotic medieval Tibetan region – diversion off Annapurna circuit
I am planning to do the Annapurna circuit and exploring option of doing a diversion from Chame to the Phu Valley.
To do this route I need a minimum of 2 people with a guide – so looking for a partner!!
The Nar Phu Valley that lies in the remote corner of the Annapurna region. This is a newly opened rugged and wild region with landscapes pretty similar to that of Tibet. “Visited by very few trekkers this exotic land offers medieval Tibetan culture in undisturbed form, dramatic mountain views and great alpine scenery.”
Buddhist pilgrims from around Nepal come to Phu to visit the renowned Tashi Lhakhang Gompa and receive a blessing from Lama Karma Sonam Rimpoche.
A week access permit costs $90 + cost for processing it is $100 and you need to trek in a group of 2. This would be $190 plus share of a guide (guide daily price $18 – $25 a day), plus your expeensives for food and accomodation (approx 1500 rupees a day.)
I would love to make this excursion happen, so am flexible on dates if someone is interested to join for Phu Valley.
I am currently in pokhara, looking to start Annapurna trek from Besi Shahar and would trek to Muktinath.
I am urban anthropologist and researcher from London in Nepal for a few months to work and travel, with a keen interest to explore the local culture and context along the way. I am currently looking for a guide who speaks good english with good local knowledge on the area. My plan is to trek with some flexibility to stop an extra night if wish on way to explore.
I would love to find someone also interested in trekking, but also interested in exploring the region and the culture along the way – ideally to help with sharing cost of guide and accomodation.I’m a very curious person and love tapping under the surface of a place to uncover local stories and traditions.
Look forward to hearing from you. Thank you
