Salpa Lake, Makalu Barun

Hi there!
Looking for a partner to visit a large gathering of jhakri, Nepali shamans, at Salpa Lake. The gathering should occur on May 09-10; it takes five days to reach the lake from Tumlingtar, plus a full day to get there by bus from Kathmandu. After the event, there’s an option of turning back, or continuing along the ridge and eventually joining the path to Makalu BC, which apparently requires no permits as far as Num – this will add another 8-10 days and provide lots of great views, weather permitting. The sections before the lake and on the Makalu BC trail have accommodation, the lake and the ridge are camping only (i have my equipment). If you want to quickly bail out, you can also walk from Salpa Lake to Lukla (~2 days) and fly back (i won’t).
Let me know if you’d like to join.
Mark.

  1. Hi Mark, i am interested. I’ll be arriving in Kathmandu April 28th, maybe we can talk further? I would need to rent some gear upon arrival.
