Solu Khumbu – Jiri/Namche Bazaar/Mount Everest Basecamp/Gokyo Lakes/Lukla or Jiri

My name is Niels and I am looking for trekking partners in the Solu Khumbu. The route is still just a proposal and I am happy if you write me your thoughts and ideas for the trek if you are interested to join me, even just for a part of the way.

My speed is average or even a little slower and unlike the treks I’ve done before in Europe (Alps, Pyrenees, Corsica, Scotland), I plan on doing this as a teahouse-trek. As there seem to be enough lodges on the trail, it should be easy to find our own pace and decide on the distances to do with all the flexibility required from the weather conditions and the altitude.

  1. Bon jour Neils, je peux parler français un peu. Visitez mes plans http://www.trekkingpartners.com/requests/everest-base-camp-trek-139/, S’il vous plaît.

  2. Hello there. Ice here. I will be trekking EBC as well but contemplating wether I will go the classic one (commence in Jiri) or fly to Lukla. Lemme know your thought and I might consider doing the classic one. My trek will be on March. Thanks

    • Hello Ice,

sorry for my delay answering. I think beginning in Jiri is beautiful because this way you get to see some more “normal” nepali live and reality with less tourists on the path. Furthermore, the trek from Jiri to Lukla or Namche Bazaar goes between 1300 m and over 3500 m on some passes you have to cross, which even helps to acclimatise for the higher altitude (at least a little bit). I think flying to Lukla would mean to miss all that. Last but not least, I must admit that I am not very keen on landing on the airport of Lukla for obvious reasons, but this is completely personal of course 😉
      Best regards,
      Niels

  4. hi Niels! i am also planning to take the trek in march please look for my inquiry on 3.3! I am staying in Nepal for one month thats why it would be awesome to spend not more than 14 days for the EBC but let me know exactly when you intend to start and finish.

  5. Hi Niels,
I am also planning to go to EBC around march 10. Starting in Jiri is what I intended bur have not yet decided. I actually want to do the 3 passes trek trough Gokyo and the Cho La pass, this will take quite some time so… it you’re interested let me know!
