The walker’s haute route- France- Switzerland

Hello Everyone!

I’m planning to do The Walker’s Haute Route in late July. Currently in the planning stages, aiming to do both camping and staying in mountain huts if possible.
My days are flexible, so i wouldn’t like to rush the trek and save some time for just enjoying the scenery along the way.

I have a very good experience in hiking/trekking in general, and i did the tour mont blanc hike last year which was a blast.

If anyone is planning to do the same trek around my dates and would like to join, please let me know :).

  1. looks good.

would you camp or sleep in refuges?

  2. Hey Sultan,

is the date of July 29th set in stone? I was planning on doing it but hadn’t planned on starting until August 1st or 2nd earliest since I’m in Italy beforehand with a rather compressed itinerary.

Also, did you decide on whether or not you want to lug a tent with or are you going to stick primarily to hotels/lodges in the towns and mountain huts?

Love the idea of finding some like-minded adventurers to partake on the trek with without having to pay an exorbitant fee to have it be “guided”.

    Cheers,
    Nick

  5. Haha oh man, I should have continued to check the forum while I was in Europe. Unfortunately I was in Iceland at the time (probably camping in a car near a glacial lake or moonscape) and was without internet.

Did you manage to do the hike, Sekar and Bastien? Sultan and I have been chatting, it seems the trail isn’t heavily trekked which is nice especially for that region of the Alps. If you two successfully trekked it then congratulations! Hope you had a blast and that the weather cooperated :).

If you two didn’t get around to it but are considering doing it next year then please let me know. I met a really awesome guy from Burn while in Zermatt and he said he’d totally be willing to run it next year if I’m in the area. Also met a girl from Zurich while in New Zealand who’s very much into trekking and would probably also be interested if I asked her.

    Happy holidays!

    Cheers,
    Nick
