Three Passes Trek

Hey guys…

I’m planning to do the 3 Passes Trek on April 2017… it’s still a long way to go I know but I’d just like to put it out here to see if anyone’s interested to join me.
The date is not fixed yet but I’m planning to start early in April.
I’m planning to do it in 18 days (with flight to and from Lukla), and it will be an independent trek (without guide and porter). The route will roughly be as follows:

1. KTM – Lukla – Phakding
2. Phakding – Namche Bazaar
3. Acclimatization day
4. Namche Bazaar – Thame
5. Thame – Marulung
6. Marulung – Lungden
7. Lungden – Renjo Pass – Gokyo
8. Gokyo – Gokyo Ri – Gokyo
9. Gokyo – Thaknak
10. Thaknak – Cho La Pass – Dzongla
11. Dzongla – Lobuche
12. Lobuche – Gorak Shep – EBC – Gorak Shep
13. Gorak Shep – Kala Patthar – Lobuche
14. Lobuche – Kongma La – Chukung
15. Chhukung – Tengboche
16. Tengboche – Namche Bazaar
17. Namche Bazaar – Lukla
18. Lukla – KTM

Well of course this is just a rough plan, we’ll see how it goes along the way. I’m not a very experienced trekker as well (I did ABC twice, and Langtang Valley once), we’ll walk in steady pace.
Although, I’ve never done this particular trek before so I’m not sure how hard this trek will be without a guide. But maybe if I can get enough people to join then we can share the guide cost.

  2. Hi Ruth,

Am planning a similar trip for my family of 4 (Singaporean) : parents and two teenage boys (20 and 18 years old). We definitely will be taking the trip in April and can either do the Three Passes or the Gokyo Lake Trek. No constraint on timetoo.

The highest mountain we have climbed is Mt Kinabalu, have not been to Nepal but all of us are rather fit and able. Hence would really appreciate an experienced hiker with us, especially one from the neighboring country.

We do not mind (in fact keen to) to hire an experienced guide.

Thanks and do keep in touch.

    Regards
    Alex
