Three Passes Trek

Hello, I am planning to the Three Passes Trek to Everest Case Camp followed by trekking Island peak & labouche East. I have never been to Nepal before but I have climbed Mont Blanc and a number of peaks in Bulgaria during the winter. The plan is to do the trek independently. If needed we can hire guides for the high passes sections.

I am looking for someone fun and easy going to share the trip who is open to taking a detour if we bump into an interesting opportunity or an amazing view.

I think the cost of the Trek only will be about $1000. If we choose to add Island Peak it will increase with ~$370 (if 2 people only)

  1. Hello,
I’m interested in doing the Three Passes Trek and am looking for someone to do it with. I was hoping to go in March but am very flexible with dates. I haven’t been to Nepal or done a trek like this, but am excited about a new experience and maybe challenge. You said you want to do it independently but maybe hire guides for the passes section. Will it be possible to find guides to hire once on the trek?

  2. Hey there, I will likely arrive in Lukla on April 2 and will be in the Everest area until April 20 or April 21. I want to do Everest Base Camp plus Gokyo Lakes at a minimum. I have done high altitude trekking before (up to 5100 m) and am generally pretty fast if needed. Otherwise, I love taking it slow and shooting the breeze in beautiful scenery. I want to do it independently also.

  3. And Jen, I think it gets harder to get a guide further up the trek, but I have heard that it is still possible at Namche Bazaar. My guess is that it would be best to have one for the entire trek.

  4. hey there your trip seem like the one i wanted to plan, only i would leave on days 19 Lukla to ktm i have to back to my fligh on april 25 to Canada!

  5. I’ll be flying into Lukla on April 3 and flying out April 21. I would like to do the three passes trek in the counter clockwise direction. It would be fun to meet up with people and do sections together. I am a pretty fast hiker, but won’t be skimping on any acclimatization!

  6. hey sounds good, i hike pretty fast also but i dont know how is my body is going to react at this altitude. acclimatation is a must do, how many days total you want to do this trek?

  7. just re read you itininary again and it sounds good looks pretty similar to the lonely planet book nepal & himalaya trekking guide book!

  8. Hey Ralitsa, I think we could match for this trek & timing perfectly. Just not sure about Island peak, but open to do other peaks Gokyo Ri or Ngozumba peak which can be made independetly without guide inline with teahousing..I am also in touch with one Czech girl discussing doing it together. More info in my profile.
